OVERVIEW:Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks an Associate Designer Leather goods to join the Design team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.RESPONSIBILITIES: Design & Creative Development Key designer in the Leather goods design team: working on Small Leather goods, Leather goods and small accessories. Contributing to creative process through all stages of the design process, from concept to pre-production samples, in line with the design calendar. Contribute innovative and creative ideas to elevate the collections, within the aesthetic codes of the Brand, providing newness and building continuity to successes. Develop and maintain impactful inspiration and design development boards, to guide and shape the seasonal design projects. Conduct market and high fashion research, to be informed about current trends and apply them to product design. Sketch, design technical specs for new product silhouettes. Design and handoff in a detailed way - across new shapes and group animations, with robust attention to detail. Develop detailed technical specifications using Adobe Illustrator for accurate tech packs. Create and update seasonal color cards and generate CADs for color options. Develop and maintain Illustrator component libraries. Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation to maximize creative potential. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate closely with other members of the design team to ensure a cohesive collection. Present projects to Commercial Creative Director, and in cross-functional teams with Development and Merchandising. Adapt and maintain boards for effective communication with cross-functional partners. Respond to business and creative briefs, balancing the creative proposal with the merchandising needs. Reinforce synergies with cross category teams to create a unified collection. Serve as a key participant in all critical product and design team meetings. Communicate technical information
