SAM. builds on decades of industry experience to deliver outerwear where fashion meets function and wearers feel both warm and confident.Role Description Reporting to the Director of Design, the Technical Designer will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of fit, construction, grading, quality, and manufacturability. This position partners closely with Design, Production, and external vendors to translate creative concepts into production-ready garments. The Technical Designer will support the development of outerwear styles from concept through production. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating technical packages, reviewing patterns, participating in fittings, and communicating detailed construction comments to factories and vendors. The ideal candidate is collaborative, proactive, highly knowledgeable in garment construction and fit specifications and passionate about delivering exceptional product execution while maintaining the integrity of the SAM. brand. This is a full-time hybrid role based in New York, NY, with a mix of in-office work and some work-from-home flexibility.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Development, or related field preferred.5+ years of Technical Design experience, with a strong focus on outerwear.Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit.Strong technical design skills, including experience translating creative concepts into detailed tech packs and production-ready specifications.
