Manage creative and technical development of product within merchandise assortment strategy. Research seasonal trends, themes, color, raw materials, and styling. Collaborate with Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design to achieve product execution and maintain design integrity. Conduct fittings. Create design cards for first protos, including measurements and construction details. Develop and counter source yarn/fabric and trim with production and suppliers. Approval of lab dips and fabric/yarn submits. Overseas travel for trade exhibitions, design research, and to supervise product development. Manage and develop junior designers. Qualifications6-8 years Design experience 1-3+ years people management experienceHigh taste level and creative ability Ability to manage, coach, and develop othersWorking knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and pattern/fit. Knowledge of fabric/yarn constructionAbility to conduct color/print researchKnowledge of seasonal silhouette and color trendsStrong illustration/presentation skillsUnderstanding of J. Crew Brand, ability to implement into designProven ability to research and apply market/fashion trend informationDemonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervisionDetail oriented
