Why I Built This
Scott Castillo, founder of Thread Careers
About Me
I've spent 20 years in product design and development — working across bedding, apparel, and soft home — and I've built a career around the idea that the things people touch every day deserve thoughtful design. From textiles and trims to color and material direction, this industry has been my home for a long time.
But over the years, I noticed something that bothered me: it's surprisingly hard for creative professionals in this space to find each other — and to find the right opportunities. Mainstream job boards weren't built for us. Search "textile designer" or "soft goods developer" and you spend more time filtering out noise than actually finding relevant work. The niche is real. The talent is real. The disconnect was frustrating.
So I did something about it.
Why I Built This
I taught myself to code and built Thread Careers — a free, specialized job board for creative professionals in textile, apparel, surface design, print, and soft home. It uses a proprietary algorithm to surface the right roles — filtered by category and work type — so you can spend your time applying, not searching. No pay-to-play, no sponsored placements. Built by someone who knows the industry. Built for the people in it.
I built it because I know this industry from the inside, and I wanted to make something genuinely useful for the people in it. Not a side hustle — a resource.
If you work in this space — or know someone who does — Thread Careers was made for you.
