Assistant Fashion Designer

Miri Couture is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and personable Assistant Fashion Designer to join our team in Cedarhurst, New York. The Assistant Fashion Designer will work closely with the lead fashion designer and support the design and development of custom couture pieces from initial concepts and sketches through fittings and final completion.

This role is ideal for someone who has a strong passion for fashion and design, understands garment construction, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and client-focused environment. Key Responsibilities* Assist the lead fashion designer with the development of custom gown and fashion designs.

* Assist with fashion sketches, design concepts, and revisions based on client requirements. * Assist during bridal and client fittings, including taking notes on fit and communicating necessary alterations and design adjustments.

* Help ensure that garments reflect the intended design, proportions, fit, and overall aesthetic. * Communicate with patternmakers, seamstresses, and production team members regarding design details and alterations. * Assist with fabric, lace, trim, embellishment, and other material selections.

* Help research fashion trends, textiles, silhouettes, and design references. * Prepare and organize design sketches, reference images, measurements, and other design files. * Assist with the development and execution of embellishment, beading, embroidery, and other couture details when needed.

* Participate in garment fittings and help identify and communicate corrections clearly. * Maintain an organized and efficient design workspace and support the designer with day-to-day design tasks. * Provide a welcoming and professional experience to brides and clients during appointments and fittings.
